Bundith Phunsombatlert

20 Jay Street, Suite M12

Bundith Phunsombatlert is a media artist exploring the concept of media archaeology. His artwork examines the transition of how new media technology can connect to the past. For him, “new” media can be a new meaning of something old, and defined by the way each individual can connect personal background and cultural identity to transform history globally. He has participated in numerous international exhibitions, in the US, Finland, Australia, New Zealand, and China, among others. His selected awards and fellowships are the Brooklyn Arts Fund (2019), NYSCA Grant (2013), Pollock-Krasner Grant (2011/2001), Harpo Foundation Grant (2011), Asian Cultural Council Fellow (2007), and UNESCO Digital Art Award/the 12th International Symposium on Electronic Arts (ISEA2004).

For DUMBO Open Studios, Phunsombatlert will present Sunny Garden in Blue: Stories from the Caribbean to Brooklyn, a new artist book that collects the stories of senior immigrants from Caribbean countries who are now Brooklyn residents.
