Celia C Gerard, New Moon (2020). Mixed Media On Paper, 40 x 60 in.

"This is a selection of recent works completed during my residency in Dumbo. All are mixed media on paper. I incorporate recycled forms to help find new forms which give life, where both culture and experience coincide as generative powers.  In the process, relationships develop and the work begins to exist in space. Chimeric and architectural by nature, my imagery references displacement, refuge, relocation and renewal."

Celia Gerard received her BA with Honors in Art and Art History from Colgate University, her MFA in Sculpture from the New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting And Sculpture and her EdM from Harvard University. In addition, she studied with Nicolas Carone and Bruce Gagnier at the International School of Art in Umbria, Italy.

One-person exhibitions include Sears-Peyton Gallery; Tayloe Piggott Gallery, Jackson, WY; John Davis Gallery, Hudson, NY. Her work has been included in numerous national and international group exhibitions.

Publications include ARTnews, The Daily Beast, ARTSY, Artspace, Parabola and works&conversations.

Awards and honors include the S.J. Wallace Truman Fund Award, National Academy Museum; Cathedral of St. John the Divine Sculpture Fellowship; Inaugural Artist in Residence at The Spruceton Inn and currently, Artist in Residence, New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture.
