Minimal image of gradient yellow surrounded by white

Fred Poisson, Untitled (2021). Watercolor on Paper. 41 x 29.5 in.

Fred Poisson is a visual artist who works primarily in watercolor but occasionally in egg tempera, acrylic and oil. He recently moved from Block Island, Rhode Island, to New York City where he keeps his studio practice in Dumbo, Brooklyn.

These minimal abstract works are created extremely wet into wet.  It is this environment in which they come to exist that instills in the final work a fluid energy, and although they are painted at the edge of control, he is able to realize a specific and desired composition. They are a balance of intuition and idea delivered via pigment and water.
