Matt Bollinger makes work based on narratives collaged out of personal experiences, first- and second-hand research, and fictional situations.

Bollinger received his MFA in painting from the Rhode Island School of Design and his BFA in painting and creative writing from the Kansas City Art Institute. His work has been exhibited in solo exhibitions in New York, Paris, and elsewhere. Recently his work has been exhibited at the Nerman Museum in Kansas (2016) and the Musée d’art moderne et contemporain, Saint-Étienne Métropole (2016). His work has been written about in The New Yorker, Le Monde, and The New York Times. Awards include first- and second-year fellowships at the Fine Arts Work Center, a fellowship in painting from NYFA, and a residency at the Sharpe-Walentas Studio Program. He is represented by Zürcher Gallery and lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.

The Sharpe-Walentas Studio Program awards rent-free non-living studio space to 17 visual artists for year-long residencies. Its mission is to provide working studio space and community for artists.
